Only 12 stations have ample parking space
Traffic chaos is likely to haunt commuters at all 24 Metro stations along the Miyapur to Nagole corridor as of all the stations thrown open for general public on Wednesday, only 12 have ample parking for vehicles. With no designated parking slots at stations, people are parking their vehicles on the Metro rejuvenation space.
The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL) has identified about half to five acres at 12 stations for parking. Apparently, sufficient parking space is not available at the remaining 12 stations. Development of parking lots is yet to be completed at identified places.
For instance, at Rasoolpura besides the Metro Rail Bhavan, parking lots' development work is yet to be completed. It is likely to take a month for completion. Both L&T and HMRL have not finalised the parking fee to be collected. They are expected to announce the same once all parking lots are developed. Until then, parking would be free, said Metro authorities. Some unscrupulous elements have already started levying a fee for parking at some stations like Nagole.
